When something occurs in your life that frustrates or disappoints you, how do you respond? Do you judge yourself that you did not do something “good enough”? Do you blame others? Or do you have a phrase that shows up automatically in your head? Something like “that’s just the way it is”?
Do any of these responses make you feel lighter? Do any of these responses give you the ability to move beyond the emotions into ease? Probably not.
If you are desiring to follow your awareness and discover what is light for you (see the blog post on “What is Your Awareness?”), as a question when you sense frustration, disappointment or responses that seem out of your control.
You may wonder, “what questions can I ask to move beyond these emotions?”
Try these questions from Access Consciousness:
1. How does it get any better than this? This is a question you can ask when something “good” happens or when something “bad” happens.
2. What’s right about this I’m not getting?
3. What would it take to change this?
4. What else is possible that I have not considered?
5. What can I be or do differently here?
As you begin to practice this tool, please do not look for an answer. Instead, begin to tune in to your awareness. What you will notice is that those emotions that made you feel stuck will begin to lighten. And, then you may notice other possibilities or others ways to respond to the situation that you did not expect. Or you may have opened an energetic doorway for the other person to act differently. Or you may get clarity or information about the situation that was not available before you asked the question.
And, if you don’t know what question to ask, you can even ask about that! Try, “what question can I ask here that will allow ease and joy?”
